Hendrik “Henk” Melles was a Dutch-Canadian artist, thinker, and devoted father whose life was guided by a deep spirituality, creativity, and curiosity about the world.

His art expressed deep spiritual and philosophical yearnings and questions about the human condition - as well as devotion to the Divine. He saw art not only as something to paint or sculpt, but as something to live—renovating his homes, raising children, and engaging with ideas, friends, and the everyday beauty and pain around him. His life reminds us that family, creativity and love are really what life is, ultimately, about.
